Protect your furry friends from disruptive fleas and ticks by using preventive flea and tick treatment, such as FRONTLINE or K9 Advantix. While you may not be able to see these pesky creatures, that doesn’t mean they’re not harmful to your pet. Here are some facts about fleas and ticks so you can better protect your animal.

  • Fleas and ticks have hiding places both inside and outside, commonly without your knowledge. Some of their favorite hiding spots are on other pets/animals, around shrubbery and bushes, and in carpets, floors, and sofas in your home.
  • Fleas can multiply in a flash. They can produce around 567 eggs in just 21 days.
  • Flea bites can cause a number of diseases, such as Flee Allergy Dermatitis (FAD), anemia, tapeworm, and Rickettsiosis. These diseases can lead to loss of energy, skin problems, or adversely affect your pet’s health.
  • There are four different types of ticks: lone star tick, American dog tick, deer tick, and brown dog tick. It may be beneficial to learn how these different ticks can affect your pet.
  • Other ways to protect your pet:
    • Wash your pet’s bed cover in hot water periodically. Make sure to dry it on the high heat setting.
    • Make your yard less appealing to ticks by cutting the grass short and eliminating brush piles.
    • Vacuum the inside of your house frequently.
    • Cover up all outside crawl spaces and garbage cans.
